Overview

Built where it's used.

The Leopard41 Annex Room is a fully enclosed ground-level room that hangs beneath your Leopard41 rooftop tent, using the footprint your vehicle and tent already occupy. It takes the open, exposed area under the sleeping platform and closes it in with waterproof fabric and ventilation windows, giving you a second, weather-protected space at camp without adding a separate ground tent to pitch and pack.

The problem it solves is the one every overlander runs into on a longer trip: a rooftop tent sleeps you well, but it leaves you nowhere to stand up, change clothes, store muddy boots, or simply sit out of the wind and rain. On a weekend that is tolerable. Over a week or a fortnight off-grid, the lack of a private, sheltered ground space is what wears people down. The annex gives the Leopard41 a downstairs, so the rig works as a basecamp rather than just a bed.

On real Indian terrain that downstairs earns its place quickly. In Spiti and Ladakh it becomes a wind-break and a place to pull boots and layers on and off out of the cold. In the Rann of Kutch and the western deserts it is shade and a barrier against blowing dust and salt. Through a Himalayan-pass downpour or a monsoon night in the Ghats it is a dry place to keep gear and step into before climbing the ladder. In short, it converts the dead space under the tent into the most-used square metres in camp.

Setup is meant to be straightforward. The annex attaches to the underside of the deployed Leopard41 and walls in the area down to the ground, and the design is built so one person can rig it without a second pair of hands or a kit of poles to thread. The ventilation windows let you manage airflow from inside, opening them up on a warm evening to keep the room fresh, or closing them down when the wind turns and you want the space sealed. Because it shares the tent's footprint, you are not hunting for level, stone-free ground to stake out a separate shelter.

Care is simple and it is what keeps any expedition fabric alive. Let the annex dry fully before it goes back in its bag; packing waterproof fabric away damp is the fastest route to mildew and a musty smell that is hard to shift. Brush off sand, dust and salt after desert and coastal trips, sponge off mud rather than scrubbing it in, and store it loosely in a cool, dry place between expeditions. Keep zips and any contact points clear of grit so they keep running smoothly. Treated this way it stays waterproof and serviceable season after season.

Compatibility is specific in one direction and broad in the other. The annex is cut to pair with the Leopard41 rooftop tent, so it is matched to that tent rather than sold as a one-size shelter. The Leopard41 itself is a softshell tent that suits compact and mid-size 4x4s and SUVs, so in practice the annex is for owners running a Leopard41 on rigs such as the Thar, Jimny, Scorpio-N, Fortuner, Hilux or Defender. If you already run a Leopard41, this is the room that goes under it; confirm your tent model before ordering so the fit is right.

It is built for the overlander who has moved past the weekend and into longer, more committed trips, where standing room, privacy and a sheltered place to deal with kit stop being luxuries. Couples and small families get the most from it, as do solo travellers spending many consecutive nights out who want a proper changing and storage space. If your camping is mostly a single fair-weather night at a time, you may not need it; if you are building a rig to live out of for days at a stretch, the annex is what turns the tent into a two-storey basecamp.

Fully enclosed ground room

Walls in the space beneath the deployed Leopard41 down to the ground, giving you a sheltered, private second space without pitching a separate tent.

Waterproof fabric

Built from waterproof fabric so the room keeps rain out and stays a dry place to change, store gear and shelter from the weather.

Ventilation windows

Windows let you manage airflow from inside — open them up on warm nights to keep the room fresh, close them down when wind and dust pick up.

Easy setup

Designed to attach to the underside of the tent and rig quickly, so the extra room goes up without a complicated pole kit or a second person.

Privacy at camp

Encloses the area under the tent for changing, washing and quiet time out of sight — a real benefit on busy or exposed campsites.

Shares the tent's footprint

Uses the ground your vehicle and tent already cover, so you are not searching for extra level, stone-free ground to stake out.

Questions, answered

Before you buy.

It is made specifically for the Leopard41 rooftop tent. It is cut to pair with that tent rather than as a universal shelter, so it is for owners already running a Leopard41. Please confirm your tent is a Leopard41 before ordering so the fit is correct.

The annex follows the tent, not the vehicle. If you can fit and deploy a Leopard41 on your rig — compact and mid-size 4x4s and SUVs such as the Thar, Jimny, Scorpio-N, Fortuner, Hilux or Defender are typical — the annex goes underneath it. The room sits in the footprint your vehicle and tent already occupy.

No. It is designed to attach to the underside of the deployed tent and enclose the space down to the ground, and to be manageable for one person without a complicated pole kit. As with any new gear, the first setup is the slowest; after a trip or two it becomes routine.

It is made from waterproof fabric to keep rain out and give you a dry ground-level space. As with any tent, make sure it is closed up properly in heavy weather, and keep the ventilation windows zipped when wind drives rain against the walls.

Yes, as a wind-break and a sheltered place to change layers and pull boots on and off out of the cold and wind. It encloses the space rather than acting as a heater, so for genuine sub-zero comfort pair it with your tent's thermal setup and appropriate sleeping kit.

Always let it dry fully before packing it away — storing waterproof fabric damp is the main cause of mildew. Brush off sand, dust and salt after desert and coastal trips, sponge off mud rather than scrubbing, keep zips clear of grit, and store it loosely somewhere cool and dry between expeditions.

Yes, it is covered by AdventureX4x4's standard warranty against manufacturing defects. For the current warranty period and what it covers, or any fitment query for your Leopard41, our team can confirm the details before you buy.
